The triumph of enjoying tobacco
One logbook entry by Christopher Columbus, who discovered the Americas during his first voyage in 1492 and brought the enjoyment of tobacco back to Europe, shows the global triumph of a luxury product: the cigar! “… men and women with a half-burnt weed in their hands, being the herbs, they are accustomed to smoke. The dried leaves of this herb were also rolled into a dried leaf. The entire thing looked like a toy trumpet. The native people rolled the herbs, which they called tabacos, inside dried leaves and lit one end. Inhaling the smoke made them feel invigorated.”
The VILLIGER 1492 pays homage to this triumph and provides a gentle and aromatic smoking experience. The exquisite Dominican long-filler cigar has swiftly become a successful brand. It comes in novel and modern-looking wooden boxes with 20 cigars each. Much love went into the design of the classy details in gold, which dominates the premium snow white.
The popular composition of the VILLIGER 1492 combines the most delicate filler – the finest tobacco blend from the Dominican Republic – with a binder from Indonesia. The final highlight in terms of appearance and taste is a bright Connecticut wrapper sheet from Ecuador. This blend provides the characteristic subtle and finely nutty flavor of Dominican cigars while delivering an intense aroma at the same time.
Pleasure with many facets
The tobacco composition is identical for all the formats of the VILLIGER 1492 brand, the taste, however, is not! The aficionado can test the different formats Short Perfecto and Robusto, which come in a new magnetic pack.
The format Short Perfecto is a rarity on the cigar market. The cigar tapers at both ends, making the format comparatively challenging to roll. This process demands the dexterity of the most experienced Torcedores! However, the particular effort it takes the cigar rollers to make a Short Perfecto pays off in the form of a particularly impressive smoking experience. The taste of the Short Perfecto repeatedly changes as the smoke travels through the different diameters of the burning cigar.
Taste develops quite differently with the Robusto format. The large diameter allows the full-bodied flavors to reach the palate with the first few puffs. They then intensify as the cigar burns down. Connoisseurs planning to taste all the different “VILLIGER 1492” formats should choose the Short Perfecto as the contrasting finale.
New Churchill format
The existing formats are now complemented by the fashionable Churchill format, which takes over with a ring gauge of 19.1 mm and a length of 178 mm. This format promises an extended smoking time of about 90 minutes paired with compelling aromatic intensity.
